Zhuhai - Urumqi Air, a subsidiary of the HNA Group, will receive a total of five COMAC ARJ21-700 regional jets between this year and 2019.

HNA Group finalized the order during China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, which is currently being held in Zhuhai (6-11 November).

During the Farnborough Air Show this year, the HNA Group signed a letter of intent for twenty ARJ21-700. Two of the five devices will be delivered this year and the other three next year.

The purchase of the new model is expected to inject new impetus into Urumqi Air and to help the airline expand its regional air network,
said Urumqi Air chairman Han Luhai.

The COMAC ARJ21 is an in-house built aircraft by Chinese COMAC with room for 90 to 105 passengers. Up to now, the aircraft accumulated orders for 300 copies mainly from Chinese airline operators.

The ARJ-21 is designed to perform in the cold and high-elevation environments in the central and western regions of China.

In addition to the ARJ21, COMAC is also building the C919, a single-aisle airliner that has to compete with the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
