Chicago - United Airlines added nine Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to an existing order bringing the total number of its 787-9s on order to 47 (25 in service). The deal is valued at slightly more than $2.5 billion at list prices.
These additional 787-9s will be available from 2020 and will replace older widebodies in United's fleet. Recall that the Star Alliance company also operates twelve 787-8 from the Boeing's Dreamliner family, and will put the first of its 14 787-10 into service next January on transcontinental routes.
United plans to have 40 Dreamliners in its fleet by the end of the year.
New order raises Boeing's 787 net orders above 100 this year.
