Tunis, Tunisia - Tunisair's regional subsidiary Tunisair Express has taken delivery of its first ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft on Nov. 19.
The aircraft with registration TS-LBF (MSN 1582) is the first of three aircraft of the same type on order as part of the Tunisian carrier's fleet renewal process.
The second ATR 72-600 is expected to arrive in Tunis next month while the third unit is due in April 2020.
Tunisair Express' new turboprops will replace the two ATR72-500 and one CRJ900Er in the airline's fleet.
Tunisair Express has also wet-leased one Embraer E170LR from Jasmin Airways, a Tunisian startup planning to launch charter services from Enfidha Hammamet International Airport.
Jasmin Airways was due to launch in 2013 first, and then in 2015, but was refused by Tunisia's Ministry of Transport.
Tunisair Express operates regional flights from Tunis to Djerba and Tozeur in Tunisia, Palermo, and Naples in Italy, and Valetta in Malta.
