The U.S. Department of Justice files a legal case against Airbus
Paris - The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a legal case against Airbus because of irregularities on financial transactions French media reports.
The company has already been under investigation for a while by the National Financial Prosecutor (PNF) in France and the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in the United Kingdom.
The European aircraft manufacturer has declared that it would be in close cooperation with the U.S. authorities while refusing to comment on the current procedures.
The company is under a new legal process launched, this time, by the US Department of Justice, which is responsible for pursuing financial frauds on U.S. territory, French newspaper Le Monde reports.
According to the newspaper, The U.S. Department of Justice waited several months before informing the Airbus Group about the investigation that has been officially launched in late 2017.
In its 2017 financial document, the group stated that the US authorities had requested information on elements of the SFO / PNF investigation that could fall under the jurisdiction of the United States, without further details.
