Lisbon - TAP Air Portugal's new Airbus A330neo will make its commercial debut on the Lisbon-Sao Paulo route on December 15. During the current winter season, the Portuguese flag carrier will also fly its new widebody to other destinations in Brazil.
TAP is the launch customer of the Airbus's re-engineered A330 with new engine option. The improved version of the highly successful widebody of Airbus offers more extended flight range and is about fifteen percent more efficient than the older version.
For the time being, Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport remains the only destination to which TAP Air Portugal flies with the A330neo (A330-900). Salvador de Bahia will be the second destination from February 2nd, followed by Brasilia from February 16, Belo Horizonte from February 17, and Rio de Janeiro from March 3rd.
The A330-900 is similar in size to the A330-300. The first copy for Portuguese operator is configured to accommodates 298 passengers - 34 in Business Class, 96 in Economy Plus and 168 in Economy. TAP has a total of twenty Airbus A330-900 in its order book.
