The first A330-900 makes its inaugural flight with the launch company TAP Air Portugal


Lisbon - The first Airbus A330-900 made its inaugural flight on May 16 with the launch company TAP Air Portugal.

The Airbus A330-900 (MSN1819) joined the airline's fleet on May 15. The other two aircraft which are expected by the end of this year to perform test flights since October 2017.

Headquartered at Lisbon-Humberto Delgado Airport, TAP Air Portugal is expected to receive a total of twenty A330-900, ten of which will be leased from BOC Aviation and Air Lease Corporation (ALC).

They will accommodate 34 seats (Recaro CL6710) in Business class, and 264 in Economy. They are all equipped with Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines.

Recall that the Star Alliance company has also ordered fifteen A320neo, and 24 A321neo (half in LR version).

The A330-900 with 287 seats in standard tri-class configuration made its maiden flight in October 2017. As of the end of January, the A330-900 has accumulated 214 firm orders (including 14 for Iran Air).
