Toulouse - Airbus delivered the first of the fourteen A350-900 expected by Sichuan Airlines. The MSN60, registered B-301D, was covered with a special Panda livery.

The A350-900 is leased from AerCap. It is configured to accommodate 28 passengers in Business class and 303 in Economy. Sichuan's first A350-900 took off from Toulouse for its base in Chengdu-Shuangliu on August 8.

The first destinations are Beijing on August 16 and Shanghai-Pudong two days later. Their first intercontinental destination should be Boston, on December 17. Copenhagen, Cairo and Tel Aviv will follow respectively.

Sichuan Airlines has signed leasing agreements for four A350-900s (three from AerCAp, one from Air Lease Corp.). The other ten aircraft have been purchased directly from Airbus in February 2018.

Sichuan Airlines operates an all-Airbus fleet of 135 aircraft: 123 single-aisle including the first A320 put into service in China in 1995, and the first aircraft assembled in the Tianjin FAL, five A320neo out of 24 ordered, and three A321neo out of the seven ordered; six A330-200 and six A330-300.
