Copenhagen, Denmark - Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is preparing to receive the first of eight Airbus A350-900 on order with the European aircraft manufacturer by the end of this year. Yesterday, the Scandinavian carrier announced the first routes planned for the aircraft.
Copenhagen will be the home-base of the SAS' first Airbus A350-900. SAS will initially deploy the aircraft on the Copenhagen - Chicago route from January 28, 2020.
It will be followed by the Beijing, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and San Francisco routes from the Danish capital.
The A350-900 of Scandinavian will be configured to accommodate 300 passengers in total - 40 in Business Class, 32 in Premium Economy and 228 in Economy Class.
SAS will begin to retire its Airbus A340s when the A350-900s join the fleet. The Scandinavians will also strengthen its long-haul fleet with the arrival of one new Airbus A330-300 and three Airbus A321LR.
