Retired Boeing 747 begins a new career with Atlas Air

New York - United Airlines' retired Boeing 747 returns to active service with the American freighter and charter operator Atlas Air.

Unite had retired the jumbo jet in November 2017 and stored it at Victorville Airport in Southern California. The aircraft registered N119UA is now returning to the service for a new career with Atlas Air who operates a fleet of 45 Boeing 747 (35 747-400 and 10 747-8).

On June 19, the jumbo jet arrived at the Los Angeles International after a short flight, and then flew to Hong Kong as Atlas flight 9223, where it is currently located.

It is not known yet whether the 747 will serve as a passenger plane or will be converted to freighter.
