Doha, Qatar - Qatar Airways pushes back the delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner due to the delay in installation of new Qsuite business class seats.
Qatar Airways' Qsuite, which was developed exclusively for the airline's business cabins, is regarded as one of the best Business Class products on the market.
The new cabin currently installed on some of the Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s. The current 787-8 fleet is configured with the company’s older herringbone seating layout.
Qatar Airways has previously announced that it would install an upgraded version of the Qsuite in its 787-9s, of which cabins are slightly narrower than the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350.
Qatar Airways currently has 30 Boeing 787-9 on order waiting to be delivered.. Although the first unit is ready for delivery, chief executive Akbar Al Baker said that the Dreamliner is not ready to enter into service since the Business Class seats are not installed.
According to Al Baker, the seats of the upgraded Dreamliner Qsuite will be at least 22% lighter than that of the seats of 777s and A350s.
The most prominent feature of the airline’s existing Qsuite cabin is quad seats that allow four passengers to sit together.
