Doha - Qatar Airways has converted ten of the 50 Airbus A321neo expected to the long-range version of the aircraft to expand its medium-haul network.
On January 31st, Qatar Airways confirmed that it has converted ten of the 50 A321neo ordered in December 2017. The airline chose the LR version of the Airbus's best-selling single-aisle jet family.
With the Airbus A321LR, Qatari flag carrier aims to launch new routes to the destinations where current demand is not sufficient for a widebody aircraft or that the current A320 and A321 jets in the fleet cannot reach due to flight range restrictions.
The first example should join the Qatari fleet in 2020.
Qatar Airways' current medium-haul fleet consists of two Airbus A319, 35 Airbus A320, and six Airbus A321. The first A321neo is expected in the coming months.
