Picture : First Boeing 777X of Lufthansa takes shape

Everett - Lufthansa released a photo of its first Boeing 777X being assembled in Everett. The German flag carrier expects the aircraft to be delivered next year in summer.

Lufthansa has 20 Boeing 777-9 in its order book with Boeing. The Star Alliance member company expects to take delivery of its next generation widebodies from 2020 to 2025. The first of these aircraft was photographed on the final assembly line in Everett.

The configuration of the Lufthansa's 777-9s remains unknown.

Recall that Lufthansa was replaced by Emirates Airlines as the launch customer of the 777X program, and the company mentioned about a possible slowdown last summer in deliveries of the new Boeing model.

The rollout of the first Boeing 777-9 is expected in mid-March.
