Lufthansa leases two Airbus A220 from airBaltic

Lufthansa leases two Airbus A220 from airBaltic from March 2019 to meet the increasing demand on European routes during the summer season.

The leased Airbus A220s will be based at Munich Airport from 31 March 2019 to 26 October 2019. Lufthansa is likely to deploy these aircraft on routes to Bucharest Otopeni, Budapest Ferihegy, Lyon Saint-Exupéry and Luxembourg Findel.

The airline has no Airbus A220s in its fleet, so airBaltic crew will operate the planes.

In addition to the airBaltic's A220s, Lufthansa will also wet-lease five aircraft from Sun Express and Air Nostrum. Two Boeing 737 from Sun Express will be based in Munich and fly to Athens in Greece and Palma de Mallorca in Spain.

Last year in summer, the German flag carrier had to cancel some of its scheduled flights due to aircraft unavailability.
