Reykjavik - Loftleidir Icelandic, a subsidiary of Icelandair Group, signed a contract with German transportation company Hapag Lloyd Cruises for tours with high-quality charter flights. The flights will begin early next year and last three years according to the agreement.

Recently Loftleidir has partnered with the National Geographic subsidiary Global Adrenaline travel agency for similar trips, and its two Boeing 757 will be used for this in the next few years.

Hapag Lloyd is primarily known as a logistics company, which operates 180 cargo ships. The company also operates five large cruise ships. Besides that, Hapag Lloyd offers luxury flights like those agreed with Loftleidir.

For the trips, the emphasis is the comfort and high-quality service. Special fixtures are placed in the aircraft to handle the tours. The seats can be folded down and turned into comfortable beds.

The Boeing 757s of the Loftleidir Icelandic will be specially configured for only 50 passengers. Each trip takes an average of two to three weeks with 5-7 destinations throughout the world. The aircraft will wait at the airport while passengers enjoy their time there.

There will be 13 crew members for each trip, three pilots, seven flight attendants, two culinary experts. It is estimated that over 20 trips will take place during the contract period.
