Farnborough - Today, the Beluga XL carried out its first flight. The event was broadcasted live from Toulouse and Farnborough.

The aircraft took-off from Toulouse at 10.30 AM local for a four hour test flight. The aircraft returned its base at 2.30 PM local.

The Airbus Beluga XL (Airbus A330-700L) is the Airbus' transport aircraft to move oversized aircraft components among the Airbus plants across the world. It is based on the A330-200 as the successor of the Airbus Beluga.

The XL has an extension on the fuselage top like the Beluga whale.
