Madrid, Spain - Spanish flag carrier Iberia has decided to keep flying with its Airbus A340-600s longer.
The IAG subsidiary airline announced that it would operate some of its A340-600s in the fleet until 2025 instead of previously planned 2022.
This decision would make Iberia the last European airline to operate A340-600s.
Iberia currently has 17 Airbus A340-600 in its fleet. This number will be reduced to five aircraft by 2022. The remaining five quad-engine jets will be operational until 2025.
Most of them will be replaced by new generation twin-engine Airbus A350-900s.
