Berlin - Low-cost carrier German carrier Germania has ordered 25, Airbus deliverable from January 2020. The preparations for the new A320neos are already underway.

The procurement of the new generation single-aisles will be a milestone as the most extensive fleet modernization in the company history.

At a press conference at Airbus in Hamburg-Finkenwerder on May 23, the Germania CEO Karsten Balke announced the investment and the standardization of the fleet.

Germania expects the A320neo to reduce fuel consumption by 15 percent per seat and reduce carbon dioxide emissions accordingly.

Regarding maintenance, the airline will also reduce costs by more than five percent by standardizing its fleet. The first A320neo will be delivered to Germania in January 2020. The German airline is now preparing the required infrastructure for the A320neos in terms of technology and flight operations.

Germania pilots started their training for the Airbus' reengineered single-aisle. The recruitment of additional personnel and their training was also completed.

Germania has announced the order for 25, A320neo at the Farnborough Air Show 2016, adding options for 15 more aircraft. Germania chose the Pratt & Whitney's geared fan for its A320neos.
