Pictures: First Airbus A330-900 of Aircalin appears at the paint shop in Toulouse

Toulouse - The first of two Airbus A330-900 of Aircalin appeared at the paint shop in Toulouse.

The first A330-900 (F-ONEO) of the French carrier is expected to enter service in July. The aircraft will be configured to accommodate 26 passengers in Business class, 21 in Premium and 244 in Economy - 291 seats in total against 266 (24 + 242) of its current two Airbus A330-200 in service.

Tokyo-Narita Airport will be the first to benefit from July 23, followed by Sydney-Kingsford Smith from August 6 and Osaka-Kansai from September 2nd.

In October 2017, Aircalin confirmed a firm order for two Airbus A330neo aircraft along with the two Airbus A320neo destined for regional routes to Australia, New Zealand, and to the other Pacific destinations.

New Caledonian operator currently flies to 11 destinations from its base Nouméa-La Tontouta airport - Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Auckland, Nandi, Port Vila, Wallis, Futuna, Osaka, and Tokyo. In 2018, Aircalin transported 411,000 passengers and 5,000 tons of cargo.
