Charleston - One year after retiring the famous Airbus A340-600 with a special Formula 1 livery, Etihad Airways finally has a successor ready. The final touches are being made to a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at the Boeing factory in Charleston.

A Formula 1 race is held annually in Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways flew for years with an A340 painted in the colors of Formula 1 to take attention to that event. But the 10-year old aircraft was removed from the service in October 2017.

Now another device of the Gulf carrier has been spotted with a new Formula 1 theme at the Boeing's Charleston factory. A 787-9 with the registration A6-BLV is expected to be delivered to the airline before the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 25.

Etihad Airways currently operates 21 787-9 and one 787-10 and expects 21 787-9 and 21 787-10 more over time.
