Cairo - EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft registered SU-GER arrived at Cairo International Airport on March 28.
The new widebody jet of the Egyptian flag carrier is the first of six Boeing 787-9 that are leased from the leasing company AerCap. The Irish lessor will deliver the second Dreamliner to the next month and the last copy by the end of 2020.
The Dreamliner is configured to accommodate Egyptair 309 passengers in total - 30 in business class and 279 in economy class.
The aircraft will enter into service in early April on its initial routes from Cairo to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi before making its long haul appearance in June on routes to Toronto Pearson, Washington Dulles, and Frankfurt International.
EgyptAir's widebody fleet consists of four Airbus A330-200, four Airbus A330-300, two Boeing 777-200ER, and six B777-300ER.
