Toulouse - easyJet exercises options for 17 Airbus A320neo bringing the number of total aircraft ordered in a previous contract to 147 (117 A320neo, 30 A321neo). The airline exercises purchase rights of 17 A320neo under the existing framework agreement signed in 2013.
The British budget carrier is the largest operator of the aircraft from Airbus A320 family in the World. To date, easyJet has placed orders for a total of 468 A320 family aircraft.
The A320neos of easyJet are configured to accommodate 186 passengers in a single class layout and powered by geared turbofans of CFM International.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 316 A320 family single-aisle including 17 A320neo and three A321neo. easyJet flies to over 130 European destinations in 31 countries.
Since its launch in 2010, Airbus A320neo accumulated more than 6,200 orders from over 100 customers around the world.
Airbus's re-engineered single-aisles incorporate the most advanced technologies such as new generation engines and improved winglets, enabling fuel savings of more than 15 percent.
The A320neo also provides a notable environmental performance with nearly a 50 percent decrease in noise footprint compared to previous generation single-aisles.
