Panama City - On August 31, Copa Airlines has taken delivery of its first B737 MAX in Tocumen International Airport, Panama City.
Before its commercial debut on September 18, the aircraft has carried out test flights between Panama City and the town of Balboa.
The Central American carrier is expecting five MAX 9 this year. The company has a total of 71 firm-order for B737 MAX in Boeing's backlog to be delivered between 2018 and 2025 with the option to convert between the MAX 7, 8, 9 and 10.
The 737 MAXs will be used to renew Copa Airlines' current fleet and replace 14 B737-700 and 68 B737-800.
The airline serves 80 destinations in 32 countries on 84 routes with 90 aircraft ( 77 Boeing 737NG, one 737 MAX9, 12 Embraer E190).
