China to order up to 100 Boeing 787-9 and 777-9

Chicago - Here are finally some good news for Boeing who is suffering from the losses due to ongoing grounding of its 737 MAX Jets. Chinese airlines are likely to place mega orders for the manufacturer's wide-body jets.

According to industry insiders, Chinese airlines are preparing to order up to 100 Boeing 787 and newly developed 777X. However, the continuing trade confrontation between China and the US can still throw a spanner in the works.

The list price of the 787-9 Dreamliner is around 300 million dollars. The 777-9 is the most expensive aircraft of the American aircraft manufacturer with a price tag of more than 442 million dollars. The aircraft is expected to make its commercial debut next year with the launch operator Lufthansa.

An order of this size would be a welcome back move for Boeing who has been struggling with the 737 MAX related problems for a while.

Chinese aviation is experiencing strong growth. As a result, there is a great need for new aircraft. Large orders are regularly placed with Western manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing, whereby the ordered aircraft are subsequently distributed among various airlines in the country.
