Cebu Pacific receives its first A321neo after several months delay

Manila - Cebu Pacific, The Philippino low-cost carrier, has taken delivery of the first of its 32 A321neo on order. The aircraft registered as RP-C4118 arrived at Manila International Airport on January 20.

The airline's new A321neo is equipped with the Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G geared turbofans and configured to accommodate 236 passengers in a single-class layout.

Cebu Pacific expects five aircraft of the same type before the year end. The Manila-based operator will also receive five Airbus A320neo leased from the Irish lessor Avolon, and an additional ATR 72-600 aircraft within 2019 as part of its fleet renewal process.

Cebu Pacific was supposed to receive the first deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2018 but had to wait because of the delivery delays of the PW1100G engines.

With the arrival of the first Airbus A321neo, the total number of aircraft in the airline's fleet reached 72 including 36 Airbus A320-200, seven Airbus A321-200, eight Airbus A330-300, eight ATR 72-500, and 12 ATR 72-600.

The ATRs are used by the subsidiary Cebgo for flights to domestic destinations where the airports are not convenient for jet operations.
