Toulouse - Cathay Pacific received its first Airbus A350-1000 on June 19 in Toulouse. It is the first of twenty ordered for the Hong Kong airline.

Cathay Pacific will introduce the A350-1000 on regional routes from July 1st. Taipei will be its first destination. The first long-distance route will be a new destination. Washington DC will be served by four weekly flights from September 15. With 8,153 nautical miles (15,100 kilometers), Hong Kong - Washington DC line will be the longest route in the Cathay's network.

In October, Madrid becomes the second A350-1000 destination, followed by Amsterdam on December 1st. Tel Aviv, Manchester, and Zurich will also be served by the new A350-1000 in winter season this year.

Paul Loo, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific, praised the efficiency of the A350-1000 on Tuesday in Toulouse. The greater efficiency is mainly due to the aerodynamics and the advanced Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, Loo says. He also indicates that fuel prices are rising again and low fuel consumption is an important advantage.
