Bamboo Airways welcomes its first aircraft

Quy Nhon - Vietnamese startup Bamboo Airways has received its first aircraft, an Airbus A319-100, just before its commercial debut on December 27.

The aircraft registered EI-GHX arrived at Hanoi International Airport on December 15. An Airbus A320-200 will follow the former SilkAir A319 in January. Both aircraft are leased from FTAI Aviation.

In January, Bamboo Airways will also take delivery of its first A321neo that was previously intended for the bankrupt Danish budget operator Primera Air. The aircraft is leased from GECAS and expected to arrive on the first day of the new year.

Bamboo Airways recently secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Vietnamese civil aviation authority.
