Sao Paulo – Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras finalized an order commitment for 21 E195-E2 jets. The Brazilian carrier had signed a letter of Intent for Embraer's next generation of regional jets at the Farnborough Airshow, in July.
This deal is valued at $1.4 billion at list prices. This new order comes as an addition to the previously ordered 30 E195-E2 by the airline in 2015, bringing Azul's backlog to 51 Embraer E2 jets in total. Azul is the launch customer of the E195-E2 and will take delivery of the first example in 2019.
Azul is the largest airline in Brazil. It carries out 766 daily flights to 110 destinations with a fleet of 120 aircraft.
