Toulouse - On April 16, the American leasing company, Aviation Capital Group has delivered an Airbus A350-900 to Korean carrier Asiana Airlines.
The aircraft is the first of two Airbus A350-900 on a long-term lease agreement between two companies. Asiana Airlines took the delivery of the aircraft with a ceremony held in the Airbus's Delivery Centre in Toulouse.
The Korean operator expects to receive the second A350-900 this year in October.
“ACG is extremely excited to deliver our first A350XWB aircraft into the Asiana Airlines operation and is delighted to continue a long-standing and important relationship with Asiana Airlines,” said Khanh T. Tran, president, and CEO of ACG.
“We are delighted to introduce the 8th A350 into our fleet with ACG’s support. This aircraft will further enhance our long-haul network operation. We believe this aircraft, equipped with the newest cabin interior, will bring an exceptional passenger experience to our customers,” said Danny Kim, General Manager of Asiana Airlines, Inc.
Asiana Airlines to be put up for sale
Early this week, the Kumho Asiana Group, the parent company of the Asiana Airlines, announced that it would sell its stake in the airline.
The Kumho Asiana Group has been struggling for a while with liquidity crunch and massive debts.
“We’ve come to a conclusion that selling Asiana Airlines would be the best way to recover trust from the market,” the group said in a statement on April 15.
Asiana Airlines is the second largest Airline of South Korea after state-owned Korean Air.
