Bogota, Colombia- South American carrier Avianca has reached an agreement with Airbus to reduce the number of airliners in its order book from 107 to 87 amid corporate turmoil due to the financial difficulties.
The airline had 92 A320neo and 15 A321neo on order before.
The Colombian carrier has also delayed their deliveries until between 2025 and 2029, instead of between 2020 and 2024.
According to a recent statement made by the aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation, Avianca will lease 12 A320neo from the Singapore-based lessor.
The planes will be delivered to the Latin Airline from 2023.
With the new fleet arrangement, Avianca aims to save money to strengthen its financial position.
