Toulouse, France - Atlantic Airways, the flag carrier of the Faroe Islands, has received its first Airbus A320neo.
The first Airbus A320neo (MSN8918) of the Nordic carrier was leased from the American lessor Air Lease Corporation (ALC). The aircraft is powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines and is configured in an all-economy cabin layout.
Atlantic Airways will use its A320neo to open new lines to Europe. The carrier already operates two A319ceos and one A320ceo. The airline has two more Airbus A320neo on order waiting to be delivered.
The revamped single-aisle of the European aircraft manufacturer consumes 20% less kerosene thanks to its newer generation engines and aerodynamic enhancements made on the airframe such as the new sharklets and composite materials used during the construction.
With more than 6,500 orders from over 100 customers around the world, the A320neo family of Airbus is leading the single-aisle jet market with a 60% market share.
