Asian Low-cost Scoot inks for six Airbus A321neo

Singapore - Singapore Airlines' low-cost subsidiary Scoot has signed a deal with Irish lessor SMBC Aviation Capital for the lease of six A321neo jets.

The budget operator will take delivery of all six aircraft over the next two years.

Scoot's A320neos will be powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PW1100G-JM engines.

We look forward to receiving the A321neo aircraft from the SMBC Aviation Capital; the aircraft will rejuvenate our fleet and enable us to meet our double-digit growth plan in the coming years,

airline's chief executive Lee Lik Hsin said.

Scoot currently operates a mixed fleet of ten Boeing 787-8s and ten Boeing 787-9s on its long-haul routes and 26 A320-200s and two A320neo on its short and medium-haul routes.

The carrier expects to receive two more Boeing 787-8s, 31 Airbus A320neos, and 16 A321neos from previously placed orders.

The Asian low-cost flies to 68 destinations in 15 countries. Six new destinations in Indonesia will be added to the company's existing route network by the second half of 2020.
