Abidjan - An Antonov An-26 from the Moldovan cargo airline Valan Air crashed after landing in Abidjan.
On 14 October around 9 am local time, the Antonov An-26 of Moldovan cargo airline Valan Air landed at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan. The flight had departed from Ouagadougou. But something went wrong. The cargo aircraft with the mark ER-AVB surpassed the runway and crashed into the sea.
The cargo operator Valan Air is specialized in army material transports and was carrying military cargo during the crash.
The wreck is located on the beach of Port Bouët, a district in the largest city of the Ivory Coast. There were ten people aboard the cargo carrier of the Moldavan cargo airline Valan Air. The freighter was transporting material from the French army.
According to officials, there were four dead and six injured. Apparently, bad weather prevailed at the time of the landing. It was raining and a thunderstorm drew over the airport.
The Valan Air was founded in 1990. The cargo operator with around 120 employees, is specialized in army material transports. It operates a fleet of three Antonov An-26 and eight helicopters of the Mil Mi-8 type.
