An Aeroflot Airbus A320 makes emergency landing in Moscow

Moscow, Russia - An Aeroflot Airbus A320 carried out an emergency landing at the Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport because a fire alert system in the cockpit went off.

Flight 1498 of Aeroflot was en route from Moscow to Grozny when the incident happened. The pilots decided to return to Moscow-Sheremetyevo International Airport when a fire detection module sounded in the cockpit.

The aircraft stayed in the air for two hours more to burn its fuel and then landed at Sheremetyevo safely. The aircraft was towed the Aeroflot's maintenance hangars for inspection.
