Air Lease Corporation delivers the first of four Boeing 787-9 to China Southern

Los Angeles - American leasing company Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the delivery of the first of five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to China Southern Airlines on a long-term lease agreement.

The Dreamliners of the Chinese airline are all equipped with General Electric's GEnx-1B76A engines. The state-owned operator will receive the remaining four Dreamliners from the ALC's order book with Boeing by the end of 2020.

“We are pleased to announce the first of five ALC Boeing 787-9s joined China Southern Airlines’ world-class fleet today,” said Jie Chen, Executive Vice President, and Managing Director, Asia at Air Lease Corporation.

“ALC’s team has worked closely with China Southern’s management team for over two decades to provide the airline new and efficient aircraft to expand operations, optimize their fleet and provide premier customer service. The Dreamliner is an excellent addition to the airline as China Southern continues to modernize its fleet with next generation, fuel-efficient aircraft,” Chen added.

China Southern Airlines currently operates ten Boeing 787-8 and nine Boeing 787-9 from the Dreamliner family and expects to receive 11 Boeing 787-9 more in total over time.
