Lagos, Nigeria - A Boeing 737-300 from the Nigerian carrier Air Peace made a hard landing at the Lagos International Airport in Nigeria. The aircraft was badly damaged.
Flight P4-7191 of Air Peace took off from Port Harcourt for Nigerian capital on July 23. The landing at the Lagos International was so hard that the front wheels broke away.
The Boeing 737-300 registered 5NBQO slid on its main landing gear and the rest of the nose gear until it finally stopped.
There were 139 people on board. Some suffered slight injuries. The Nigerian Aviation Safety Authority AIB investigates the cause of the incident.
According to the airline, the pilots asked to land on the longer runway instead of the shorter one used for domestic flights due to the sudden change in weather conditions.
