Mallorca - Air Europa orders one more Boeing 787-9 bringing the number of ordered Dreamliners to 27.
Air Europa currently operates eight 787-8 and two 787-9. The airline put its first 787-9s in service in February this year. On October 24, the subsidiary of the Spanish group Globalia announced a further expansion of its Dreamliner fleet with a new order.
The airline will add one more 787-9 to its order book in addition to the eighteen already ordered, according to the following schedule: five aircraft will join the fleet between April and December 2019, then twelve between 2020 and 2021.
Air Europa ordered fourteen 787-9 directly from Boeing and leased four from BOC Aviation. The first two aircraft, which are in service with the Spanish carrier since February, are configured to accommodate 30 passengers in Business Class and 303 in Economy.
The carrier began operations with its first 787-8 in March 2016 and has transported more than 2.5 million passengers since then with its Dreamliner fleet. The 787-8s of the SkyTeam alliance company are configured to accommodate 22 in Business Class and 274 in Economy.
