Toulouse, France - Reunion-based French airline operator Air Austral has placed a firm order for three Airbus A220-300.
The long-haul carrier said the first aircraft will join the airline's fleet next year in November. The remaining two copies will arrive in December 2020 and in March 2021 respectively.
Air Austral's new Airbus A220s are intended to replace the two Boeing 737-800 and one ATR72-500 that are currently used on routes between the Reunion islands. The operator did not announce the cabin configuration yet that the planes will feature.
In addition to its short and medium-haul aircraft, the French has three Boeing 777-300ER and two Boeing 787-8 in its long-haul fleet that were being operated on routes to France, India and Thailand.
