Moscow - Aeroflot has expanded its Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ100) fleet to 50 aircraft. The flag carrier of Russia is by far the largest operator of the Russian regional jet. The manufacturer Sukhoi has not so far been able to catch a sales success outside of Russia.

Aeroflot placed the first order for the 95-seat aircraft in 2005 and recently announced a new order agreement for another 100 copies. In the long term, the airline will have 200 Russian airliners in its fleet including the 50 Irkut MC-21 in order.

Aeroflot's SSJ100s, which are mainly used on domestic routes are configured to carry 12 passengers in Business and 75 in Economy Class.

Earlier this month Mexican carrier Interjet revealed its plan to sell all its SSJ100sits plan to sell all its SSJ100s back to the manufacturer after several mechanical problems which forced the airline to ground a part of its SSJ100 fleet.
