Moscow - Aeroflot will lease 50 MC-21-300s. With this order, the flagship company of Russia becomes the main customer of the new single-aisle of the Russian manufacturer Irkut Corporation.
On February 1, Aeroflot announced the signing of a firm lease agreement with Aviacapital, the leasing company of state-owned Rostec who consolidates strategically important companies with the ultimate goal of capitalizing them and bringing them to an IPO.
The total amount of the contract, including maintenance services, is valued at $5 billion. Aeroflot expects to receive its first MC-21-300 in the first quarter of 2020. The company plans to operate the aircraft on its domestic and international network. The MC-21-300 will be configured for Aeroflot with 169 seats, 16 in business class and 153 in economy class.
Initially, the MC-21-300 will be delivered with the Pratt & Whitney PW1400G engines. However, from the 26th copy, Aeroflot has the opportunity to choose the PD-14 of the Russian engine manufacturer Aviadvigatel, which is currently under certification.
