Beijing - China Southern Airlines became the first airline in China to receive an Airbus A321neo, a member of the Airbus' best selling A320neo family that Chinese authorities were slow to certify.
On the first day of March, The Irish lessor AerCap announced the delivery of the first Airbus A321neo to China Southern Airlines. The aircraft is also the first of the type introduced in China.
The A321neo joined the fleet of the Guangzhou-based operator, which consists of 303 Airbus aircraft, including five A380, 99 A321ceo, 121 A320ceo and seven A320neo.
Recall that China Southern was also the first operator of the A320neo in China. In total, the Chinese carrier has leased 24 A320neo family aircraft from the AerCap that are all equipped with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines. Deliveries are expected to continue until 2019. Other lessors will also provide additional copies to the airline.
