Springfield - On June 27, a van was almost to hit a plane on take-off at the Springfield Airport, Missouri. Although the incident happened one and a half month ago, a video of the near-pass has become public recently.
There were three airport employees in the van who were in a hurry to catch up with an employee barbecue. As a result, the van driver only saw the airplane taking off when he was already driving over the runway.
Partly because the driver speeded up when he realized the danger, the van left the tarmac just in time. "The traffic controller said that the runway was free," he claimed. The airport authorities are now investigating the case.
There were 50 passengers on board the Embraer E145 from Envoy Air, which was flying for American Eagle.
