A Turkish Boeing 777-300ER hits the lighting pole in Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey - A Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER hit the lighting pole in Istanbul. The aircraft was taxiing for departure while the accident happened.

The incident happened at 08:05 when the aircraft was preparing for departure from the new Istanbul Airport to Ankara. The aircraft registered TC-LJE had serious damage to the right wing.

The plane was towed to the maintenance hangar for inspection.

Some passengers shared photos of the incident on social media.

No injuries were reported. Turkish Airlines said an investigation was initiated.

Passengers were transferred to another aircraft of the same type.
