A Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-900 diverts to Darwin due to engine problem

Darwin, Australia - A Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-900 made an emergency landing at Darwin International Airport in Northern Australia due to a problem in one of the engines.

The aircraft was en route from Hong Kong to Melbourne and was over Katherine in the Northern Territory when it was forced to divert to Darwin.

According to airport officials, the aircraft safely landed at 08:00 a.m. local today.

Paul Nicholson, one of the passengers told local media the problem was engine shut down over Katherine. Nicholson also said it was
very quiet on board while the plane was being pulled into the international terminal.
