Cathay Pacific Bolsters Cargo Fleet with Airbus A350Fs
HONG KONG — Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific has announced a major expansion of its cargo fleet with a firm order for six Airbus A350F freighters. This deal, valued at roughly $2.7 billion at list price, also includes options for 20 additional aircraft, solidifying Cathay's commitment to the A350F program and further strengthening its position as a leading cargo carrier in the Asia Pacific region. The A350Fs are expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2029, gradually replacing Cathay's existing fleet of 20 Boeing 747 freighters. The new aircraft will operate long-haul cargo routes to North and South America, as well as Europe, significantly expanding the airline's cargo network and enhancing its long-term operational efficiency.
Investing in the Future of Cargo Operations
This order marks the second major investment by Cathay Pacific in its fleet modernization efforts this year. In September, the airline firmed up options for 32 Airbus A321neo and A320neo narrowbodies, demonstrating its commitment to both long-haul and short-haul fleet renewal.According to Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam, this A350F order represents another "major component" in the airline's investment for the future. He further emphasized that the A350Fs are expected to deliver "improved efficiency and capability" to the fleet, ultimately contributing to Cathay's long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
