SAO PAULO — In a recent update on 3 August, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced a significant 47% increase in jet deliveries during the second quarter as compared to the same timeframe in the preceding year. Stationed in San Jose dos Campos, the company specified that these deliveries encompassed 17 commercial jets, namely 10 E175s and seven E195-E2s. In addition, they handed over 30 executive jets, with 19 falling under the light category and 11 being midsize.

Comparing this growth to the performance from last year's same quarter, commercial aviation observed a 55% jump while executive jet deliveries surged by 43%. Over the first half of 2023 alone, Embraer successfully delivered 62 aircraft - a split of 24 commercial and 38 executive jets.

Several key orders were instrumental in boosting the quarter’s performance. American Airlines has requested seven E175s for its affiliate, Envoy Air, which are expected to commence delivery later this year. Post-delivery, Envoy Air's fleet is projected to exceed 141 aircraft by the conclusion of the subsequent year. Additional notable orders include Spain’s Binter Canarias for six E195-E2s, and Malaysia’s SKS Airways earmarking ten similar jets. Meanwhile, Singapore’s Scoot and Royal Jordanian Airlines have plans in place to incorporate E190-E2 and E195-E2 jets, with shipments kicking off in the year's final quarter.

Embraer's rising popularity in the aviation industry is further reflected in its firm order backlog, amounting to a whopping $17.3 billion. This encompasses 271 commercial jets, breaking down to 82 E175s, 16 E190-E2s, and 173 E195-E2s.

On the executive aircraft front, the second quarter observed Embraer delivering a Phenom 100, 18 Phenom 300s, 6 Praetor 500s, and 5 Praetor 600s. A notable mention is the significant agreement between NetJets and Embraer for a potential 250 Praetor 500 jet options. This deal is reportedly valued at over $5 billion and is set to start deliveries in 2025.
