This repeat order for the American planemaker's's highly efficient widebody aircraft will offer EVA Air enhanced flexibility for long-haul routes connecting North America, Europe, and Asia. The 787-9 Dreamliner, built with lightweight composite materials and equipped with cutting-edge GEnx engines, is expected to deliver increased capacity, extended range, and a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to previous-generation jets.
EVA Air's President, Clay Sun, emphasized the significance of the 787 fleet in the company's carbon-neutral growth strategy. He asserted that the airline will continue to capitalize on the aircraft's exceptional efficiency and performance for years to come. Sun also highlighted the new order's role in supporting EVA Air's dedication to operating a more environmentally friendly fleet, enabling carbon emission reduction while maintaining top-tier service for passengers.
The airline's current fleet comprises 10 787s, including four 787-9s and six 787-10s. With this latest order, EVA Air now has outstanding orders for seven 787-10s and nine 787-9s. In addition, EVA Air operates one of the world's largest 777 fleets, consisting of over 40 airplanes, both passenger and freighter models, with a 777 Freighter order also in place.
