Airbus's Executive Vice President and Airbus China CEO, George Xu, highlighted the smooth assembly activities and tests since the commissioning of the first A321 aircraft at FAL Tianjin last November. He also emphasized Airbus's continued expansion and enhancement of its cooperation with China's aviation industry, in line with its long-term commitment to ensuring customer proximity and supporting global commercial aircraft production ramp-up.
Airbus operates four A320 Family final assembly facilities worldwide, located in Hamburg, Germany; Toulouse, France; Tianjin, China; and Mobile, United States. The Tianjin facility's conversion last year, along with the upcoming completion of the transformation in Toulouse, will make the global industrial system fully A321-capable, ensuring flexibility and agility in meeting Airbus's ramp-up objectives and the growing market success of the A321 model.
Inaugurated in 2008, the FAL in Tianjin was Airbus's first commercial aircraft assembly line outside Europe. Since delivering its first A320 in 2009, the Tianjin facility has delivered over 600 aircraft in its 14 years of operation. The A321neo is the longest-fuselage member of Airbus's best-selling A320 Family, seating up to 244 passengers and boasting a range of up to 4,700nm/8,700km.
The A320neo Family delivers 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as a 50% less noise compared to previous-generation aircraft. As of January 2023, the A320neo Family registered more than 8,600 firm orders from more than 130 customers arond the world.
