DUBLIN, IRELAND — Last weekend, Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus launched a new service connecting Ireland's West coast to London Heathrow and resumed direct flights from Dublin to Hartford, Connecticut.
The first Aer Lingus flight EI916, operated by an Airbus A320, left Ireland West Airport at Knock for Heathrow on March 26.
The new route provides easy access for UK visitors and those traveling via Heathrow to one of Ireland's most popular destinations, as the West of Ireland has gained significant attention following the blockbuster film 'The Banshees of Inisherin.' Most of the visitors to Ireland are from the UK (42%), followed by the US (15%), according to Tourism Ireland, which supports the new Aer Lingus route.
For West of Ireland residents, the London Heathrow service allows for connections to destinations worldwide through the UK's largest and busiest airport. They can also use Aer Lingus' 16 direct North
American routes from Dublin and Shannon international airports in the upcoming summer season.
