MIAMI, FLORIDA — Miami-based aircraft leasing company Jetstream Aviation Capital delivered one Saab 340B turboprop aircraft to Southern Airways Express of Palm Beach, Florida.
The aircraft, serial number 340B-345, is the first of a multi-aircraft commitment between Jetstream and Southern Airways Express. Southern is planning to operate its Saabs to connect islands Hawaii.
The regional operator named its first Saab "The Phil LeFevre" in honor of Southern Airways' longstanding Chief Operating Officer, who passed away in early 2022.
Southern Airways was founded in 2013 as an FAA Part 135 air carrier and became one of the country's leading commuter airlines in very short. In addition to the Saab 340 aircraft, the company operates Beech King Air 200s, Cessna 208 Caravans, and Pilatus PC-12s. Southern Airways recently acquired Air Choice One of St. Louis, Missouri, the United States' largest operator of Cessna Caravan aircraft on scheduled passenger service.
Southern Airways and its subsidiary Mokulele Airlines of Hawaii have been leasing customers of Jetstream Aviation since 2015. Founded in 2010, Jetstream Aviation Capital is the largest global owner of Saab 340 and Saab 2000 aircraft.
