SEATTLE, WASHINGTON — The talks between Boeing and Qatar Airways about the order of the B777X freighter variant are closing to a deal, according to the sources familiar with the matter.



The announcement could come as early as next week when the country's ruling emir visits Washington.

Qatar Airways is planning to expand its freighter fleet with the larger new 777X version in a deal potentially worth $14 billion at list prices.

The Gulf carrier has revealed that it is willing to order as many as 50 freighters, including options.
